Port Disruptions in Melbourne

Urgent Customer Notice –
Port Disruptions in Melbourne

Dear Valued Clients,

I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to inform you about a recent cybersecurity incident affecting DP World, one of the major terminal operators in Australia.

The incident was detected on Friday, the 10th of November, and is being addressed in collaboration with government authorities, particularly the National Cyber Security team.

In conjunction with the ongoing strike action, these challenges are expected to deepen, leading to additional pressures and delays not only for DP World but also for other terminal operators.

Air Marshall Goldie, the National Cyber Security coordinator, has indicated that the disruption is likely to persist for several days, impacting the movement of goods in and out of the country.

The dynamic nature of the situation makes it challenging to fully gauge the impact on vessels and containers that have already docked at DP World or are scheduled to do so in the coming days.

Shipping lines are also attempting to mitigate the effects and will look at utilising other terminals, however all terminals are grappling with both direct and flow on delays caused by the strike action over the last few weeks.

Over the next 24 hours, we anticipate gaining a clearer understanding of the implications for any containers you may have on vessels that have recently arrived or are scheduled to arrive soon.

Our customer service & transport team will ensure if there is any delays to your containers due to these issues that you are keep well informed and abreast of the situation.

We recognize the critical nature of this period, and will exert every effort within our control to expedite the movement of your goods from the ports.

As the situation evolves, I will continue to provide updates to ensure you are informed of any new developments.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to our customer service team, account manager or myself who will be more than happy to assist you.

Thank you
