BREAKING NEWS – MUA will immediately end industrial action at Patrick Terminals
As per our previous notice, The Freight & Trade Alliance (FTA) and the Australian Peak Shippers Association (APSA) wrote to Patrick Terminals recommending an “immediate and permanent” solution to their industrial relations dispute with the Maritime Union of Australia (MUA) via the Fair Work Commission (FWC).
In breaking news, FTA / APSA have received advice from Patrick Terminals that after a day and half of talks at the FWC, the MUA announced it would immediately end industrial action at Patrick terminals in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Fremantle.
While providing a temporary reprieve to hopefully assist industry to recover from port congestion in the months ahead, the outcome provides no guarantee of future industrial relations disruption.
DEAN World Cargo would also like to advise our valued customers that whilst it is very positive that the industrial action has been called off. it will take some time for the backlog to clear up and may take some time for the congestions to ease.
Should you have any questions in regards to the above, please do not hesitate to contact your DEAN World Cargo Account Manager.
