General Rate Increase-October 2016

We have received notification by the shipping lines that a GRI will be implemented as of the 15th of October, 2016.

Indications are that a rate restoration of up to USD400 per TEU will be implemented across both Chinese and Hong Kong ports.

Whilst there have been many attempts by the shipping lines to implement a considerable GRI, given the overcapacity it has proven to be a difficult task to carry out.

With rates at historic lows and as per the media coverage our shipping lines losing money, it is important that we have a profitable and sustainable shipping line industry in order to serve the best interests of all parties in the supply chain.

Rates will be examined this week and a new rate schedule will be sent through in due course.
