Notice to the Import Industry
Return of Import Containers to Australian Shipping Terminals and changes to Terminal Infrastructure fees.
For many years now, the majority of empty import containers were directed to Empty Collection Parks (ECPs). As of the 1st Feb 2018, the major shipping lines are requesting that these empties now be returned to the Shipping Terminals instead. This change in policy has resulted in additional costs being borne by our carriers.
As these additional costs can no longer be absorbed by our carriers for all the reasons listed in the attached notice, we will unfortunately need to pass them on as and when they occur. When directed to return the empty to a terminal we will be contacting the shipping line and requesting for a change of return destination to an ECP rather than the terminal. If we are successful there will be no extra charge. For the times when we cannot get this changed, we will pass on the costs as per the table below and provide a copy of the receipt.
In Addition to the above there have been changes in the infrastructure fees that are being charged by the Terminals. These new costs are listed in the table below.
| DESCRIPTION | SYDNEY 20’ FCL | SYDNEY 40’ FCL | MELBOURNE 20’ FCL | MELBOURNE 20’ FCL | Effective Date |
