Customer Notice – Chinese New Year – 2026

As we approach Chinese New Year on 17 February 2026, we would like to advise customers of the expected impacts on sea freight services and port operations across China. Chinese New Year is a significant seasonal event for global supply chains, and early indicators suggest increasing pressure on capacity and operational performance in the lead-up to the holiday period.

In the weeks preceding the holiday, export volumes typically increase as shippers seek to move cargo ahead of factory closures and reduced logistics capacity. This year is no exception, with growing congestion already being observed at several major Chinese ports, including Yantian, Shekou, Nansha, Shanghai, and Ningbo. As a result, longer gate wait times, reduced schedule reliability, and tighter vessel space are becoming more prevalent.

In addition to port congestion, factory production, inland transport, and warehouse operations are expected to progressively scale down prior to the official holiday period. While the public holiday itself occurs in mid-February, historical trends show that supply chain disruption often begins from mid-January and may continue into late February or early March as operations gradually return to normal levels.

Given these conditions, some customers may experience extended lead times at origin, changes to sailing schedules, or delays linked to carrier capacity management and post-holiday vessel bunching at destination ports.

Our team is actively managing shipments through this peak period by working closely with carriers, terminals, and overseas partners to secure the most reliable solutions available. Where adjustments are required, we will continue to proactively review routing options, sailing schedules, and release strategies to minimise disruption and maintain continuity of supply. Customers can be assured that we are closely monitoring developments and taking all reasonable steps to manage shipments effectively during this period.

We will continue to provide updates as conditions evolve and remain available to discuss any specific shipment requirements or concerns. Please contact your account representative should you require further information or support.
